Is A Las Vegas Wedding Legal

Many people head out to Las Vegas every year to have a quick wedding. Las Vegas specialises in the weird and wonderful, and if you have any crazy ideas about getting married in a helicopter, or having Elvis walk you down the aisle, then Las Vegas is definitely the place to come to have these dreams fulfilled.

But along with the many happy couples who get married in Vegas every year, there’s the few couples who, in their haste, forget to look into the legalities of a Las Vegas wedding. So this is what I’m going to talk about.

The first thing you should know, is that to get married in Vegas, your wedding will need to comply with the Nevada wedding laws. That’s if you want your wedding to be 100% legal.

For this to happen, you will need to get your marriage license. You should be able to get your marriage license at one of the many bureaus in Las Vegas who cater for this. If you’ve booked a Las Vegas wedding package, they should be able to give you further advice on the marriage laws of Nevada.

To get your marriage license, you will need some form of identification. Usually a valid driver’s license, passport, or birth certificate is all you need to prove this. You’ll also need the money to pay for the marriage license. The fees can vary, but $50 should cover most situations. If you’re divorced, you’ll also need to bring proof of this.

One last thing you need to know about Nevada wedding laws, is that they only all men to marry women. They do not currently allow same-sex marriages.

And that’s about all there is to it. Las Vegas weddings are known for being very quick, as you don’t need to have a blood test or anything to get married. But you still need to remember your marriage license.
